    Terms and Conditions

For the purposes of these notes,

"We" refers to JustClassical Limited (the seller)
"You" refers to the consumer/customer (the buyer)
It’s an obvious point, but that’s what Terms and Conditions are all about...

All LPs sold on this site may be assumed to be 12-inch 331/3 rpm discs unless specifically stated otherwise.

All photographs of recordings featured on our listings pages are photos of the actual recording being offered for sale. Quite simply, what you see is what you will get. All photos (or scans, in the case of CDs) have been taken by JustClassical Limited, and should not be used in any other context without our permission.

JustClassical Limited cannot accept any liability for damage or injury caused to persons or equipment through the improper use of products purchased from us. Don’t put CDs in the microwave, and if you do, don’t blame us.

Returns and Refunds:
All recordings listed on JustClassical’s website carry an assessment of their condition (see a full explanation of our grading system here). These quality gradings relate to second-hand goods; when we say a recording is in Very Good condition, we are saying it is Very Good in relation to the normal wear and tear one might expect to encounter in a recording of this age. This does not imply that the recording is in "perfect" condition or that it is new. A 35 year old LP will not be in the same state it was in the day it left the factory. That isn’t a flaw in the LP, it’s just time, which does that to all of us.

Having said this, we endeavour to grade our recordings quite harshly, and to point out potential problems as we see them.

If a recording has been listed by us as "good" or better condition, we will provide a refund should the recording prove not to be as described (bearing in mind the above points). If a recording is graded as less than "good" it must be assumed that there will be problems, and careful consideration should be exercised before purchase is made. No refund can be offered for damage or wear and tear that had been indicated by the quality grading. None of this affects your statutory rights.

If a recording sent by JustClassical is faulty in some manner not specified in the listing or is incorrect in some other way (for example the wrong recording is on the disc, or a recording we have listed as stereo is actually mono) we will refund the total purchase price, including shipping costs, plus the cost of posting the recording back to us. Please note we will not be able to reimburse you for any customs or import duties that may have been incurred on international orders. Sorry!

Once a recording has been shipped, we regret we are not able to issue refunds unless the recording has been seriously mis-represented by us in some way (see above for clarification on this point). The only exceptions to this are recordings listed in MINT condition.
Mint recordings are defined by JustClassical as recordings still in their original factory seal; these recordings are new (to the extent that they have not been opened or played by any previous owners) and thus are covered by European directives which grant online shoppers a seven-day return period on sealed recordings. If, within seven days of receipt, you wish to return a factory sealed item, you may do so, provided it has not been unsealed. JustClassical will refund the purchase price plus the initial shipping cost, although we will not be able to refund the cost of returning the item to us. Please note that once you have opened a sealed LP or CD, we will be unable to accept its return under the seven-day statutory cooling-off period.

If you are returning an item to us that was purchased as part of a larger order, we will not be able to refund the total shipping cost of the order; we will refund the cost of shipping only the item or items being returned.

If a recording is damaged in transit, or is lost entirely (which hopefully won’t happen very often) please contact us as soon as you are aware of the situation. We will provide either a refund or an alternative item of the same value, at your discretion. Please do not simply send a recording back to us without contacting us first, as that can cause chaos.

In the unlikely event that we are unable to fill an order; if, for example the recording has been damaged subsequent to its listing on our site, or due to a clerical error is not in stock, we will immediately notify the customer and provide a full refund if any money has already been paid to us.

The customer may cancel any order placed with JustClassical that has not yet been shipped. Simply notify us by sending an email to sales@justclassical.co.uk giving us your order details, and your desire to cancel the order. We will halt the transaction with no further obligation to you. Any money that may have already been paid to us will be refunded.

Discounts:
Discount Codes issued to customers are generally valid for two months from the date of issue, unless specifically stated otherwise. Each code may be used once, after which it is no longer valid. Discounts will apply to the recordings, but not to the cost of postage (which is out of our hands). Sorry!

Autographs:
At JustClassical we will occasionally encounter recordings that have been signed by an artist or composer. In such cases, we will point this out in the listing, but we are unable to provide any categorical authentication of these autographs. If we have a specific reason to believe a signature is not authentic (a CD signed by Caruso, perhaps) we will of course point this out as well, but at the end of the day, we are music-lovers, not handwriting experts. For this reason, we will merely point out the presence of an autograph and allow the customer to make his or her own judgement of its authenticity. The price of a signed recording will be based on its relative rarity and condition not on the presence of the signature.

Remaindered LPs:
Historically it was common for deleted LPs to be marked in some way when they were to be sold in clearance houses or as remainder stock. The exact nature of this mark varied somewhat, but was usually a small cut in the sleeve, near the corner. Some German labels opted for the rather more extreme measure of punching a hole through both the sleeve and the record itself, just off-centre. When listing recordings, we have tried to point out these marks when they are present, but we do not generally consider them to be damage to the LP or sleeve, as they were deliberate marks made by the manufacturer. If you are likely to be unhappy with a sleeve marked in this way, please carefully examine both our descriptions of the condition and the photos of the record, as we will not generally issue refunds for items simply because they are marked as deletions.

Stained LPs:
Most LPs are stored in either plastic or paper inner sleeves for protection from dust and scratches. Unfortunately, if a record has been left in its sleeve for many years, the rather oily plastic used in these sleeves can sometimes leave deposits on the playing surface of the record. Although they can look quite frightening, these deposits can be removed quite easily with cleaning, and do not cause any permanent damage to the recording. If a record on our website is stained in this manner, it will be clearly labelled as such and the price will be adjusted to accommodate this. If you are concerned about stained records, please consider carefully before ordering such a record, as we do not generally give refunds because a recording is stained.

Bronzed CDs:
In the years 1988-1993 the manufacturer PDO pressed discs for a number of CD labels using a lacquer that was (eventually) discovered to be problematic; these discs were not resistant to the sulphur content of the paper used in the booklets, and the discs have effectively "rusted" over the years. (Please refer to Hyperion’s excellent discussion of this problem on their website by clicking here.)
At JustClassical it is our policy not to offer bronzed CDs for sale, as PDO are no longer undertaking replacement of the affected discs. It is generally believed that any discs that are going to bronze will have done so by now, as a significant period of time has passed (two decades, as of this writing). If however a CD purchased from us (or any CD at all) begins to bronze in the future, it should be returned directly to the relevant label for replacement.
